What trade buyers actually pay
Recent offers accepted by sellers, or declined with an asking price. These are not confirmed sale prices or a promise of what your van will fetch. Matching vehicles are shown where available; otherwise examples are from other vans.
- 2016 PEUGEOT PARTNER · runs · MOT valid → £900
- 2010 FORD TRANSIT · runs · MOT expired → £350
- 2015 MERCEDES-BENZ SPRINTER · runs · MOT valid → £900
What to tell buyers about your flatbed
Show the bed surface, sides, securing points and chassis, not just the cab. Explain whether dropsides, a tail lift or other equipment are included and whether they operate. Mention corrosion, damaged flooring and missing panels. Remove your own loose tools or materials before handover unless included by agreement. Tell the buyer if the vehicle cannot move or is parked somewhere recovery access is restricted.
Describe condition, not just the badge
Start with the registration and the details you know. The mileage shown on the dashboard, MOT result and whether the vehicle runs all help a buyer decide if it suits them. List recent work only when you know it was done. An invoice is useful, but it does not remove the need to explain current faults. Take clear pictures of the front, side, load area, dashboard and any damage. Keep phone numbers, links and addresses out of the public description; contact details are shared with the buyer who takes the listing.
Understand the offer and your asking price
FlipMyVan connects sellers with trade buyers; we do not buy the vehicle ourselves. The instant offer is based on the information supplied, not a retail advertisement or a promise of a final sale. You can accept that figure or send the whole-pound price you would take instead. Be realistic about repairs, mileage and working wear: a trade buyer needs room for costs and risk. The examples below are recent offers and seller responses, not proof that those vehicles sold or a valuation of yours.
What happens if a buyer is interested
Once a buyer takes your listing, they contact you to discuss the vehicle and arrange collection. Tell them about any change in condition and agree the price and practical arrangements before handover. Collection is by the buyer, not FlipMyVan, and payment is on collection. Confirm payment has reached you before handing over keys or paperwork. Follow current DVLA guidance to notify a change of keeper, and keep a record of the sale. Never rely on a payment screenshot alone.
You stay free to choose
A listing does not guarantee a buyer, a price or a collection date. You are not tied in and can sell elsewhere if that works better for you. If you do, use your private status link to let us know so buyers do not pursue an unavailable vehicle. Do not pay for unnecessary repairs simply to obtain a quote. An accurate description gives buyers the information they need and helps avoid a wasted journey, whether the van is a runner or needs transport.
Your questions answered
Does FlipMyVan buy my van?
No. FlipMyVan connects you with trade buyers. An interested buyer arranges collection and pays you; a buyer is not guaranteed.
Can I send my own asking price?
Yes. If the instant offer does not suit you, send a realistic asking price or choose to hear offers. Neither guarantees a sale.
Can a buyer collect a non-runner?
Some buyers can arrange suitable transport. Explain whether the van starts, moves and can be accessed safely, then agree arrangements with the buyer.
When do I get paid?
The buyer pays on collection. Confirm payment has reached you before handing over the vehicle, keys or documents.
Am I tied in after accepting?
No. You can sell elsewhere. Use your private status page to let us know if the van is no longer available.
